MacInnis Construction

We are owned and operated by Gary MacInnis and me, Heather MacInnis, of Noblesville, IN. Our focus is on high quality craftsmanship with great attention to detail. We strive to provide excellent customer service by staying in very close contact with our customers from the design phase all the way through project completion.

Although we are relatively recently established in 2014, our company stems from a family owned and operated construction business that started over 40 years ago. MacInnis Construction and Design, Corp. was started in Noblesville by my parents Dan and Patty MacInnis in 1972. In 2005 Gary and I came to work for my parents– Gary as a carpenter and eventually lead carpenter on various jobs and I functioned as designer and also handled some of the estimating and job scheduling. Both Gary and I assisted Dan with supervision of subcontractors.

I began in commercial design in 1998 working for commercial furniture companies and eventually for a prominent architectural firm in Indianapolis. Having worked in the corporate environment for about 7 years, Gary and I decided shortly after we were married that raising children and working so many hours was not a good mix. It was then that we decided working for my parents' company would provide us with the flexibility we needed to spend time with children and be close to family. As it turns out it, was a good decision. With the guidance and 10 years of experience we gained at MacInnis Construction and Design, we were prepared to break out on our own when my parents decided it was time to retire.

Although Gary’s skills include electrical, plumbing, painting and drywall work, his focus is fine carpentry, job management and problem solving on the job. Gary's attention to detail and willingness to make sure the job is done right is what our customers so often appreciate. My focus is on design (space planning, floor plans, finish and fixture selection) but I also handle estimating, scheduling and bookkeeping. With both of us so deeply involved in every aspect of the job, we are able to tailor each job to the customers’ needs, track the job closely and keep the customer well informed as the job progresses. It is very important to us to respond to customers’ phone calls, emails or texts in a timely manner, as we believe a construction project is often a relationship between the client and us... so much more than just a job.

Services

GENERAL CONTRACTING:
We have worked with the same subcontractors for many years. Because we maintain an ongoing relationship with them, they offer us their best pricing – every time. We do not bid a specific portion of a job (plumbing, for example) out to multiple subs because we know ours will do good quality work, reliably.

A strong working relationship built on trust and respect goes so much further than a cheap price. Although we and our subs do everything we can to prevent unexpected problems on a job, if one does arise we are able to handle it efficiently and, most importantly, to the customer’s satisfaction because our subcontractors appreciate our repeat business.

DESIGN WORK:
We offer design services for new construction, additions and remodels, kitchen and bath design and even custom carpentry pieces like built-in shelving. We generate all drawings in-house and can provide floorplans, electrical plans, product specifications, finish and fixture selections, custom tile layouts, exterior and interior elevations, cabinet plans and lighting design. We can also provide finish, door and window schedules. Being able to generate a design and see it through to completion, all managed by one company, sets us apart from other contractors and makes the whole experience simpler and more enjoyable for the customer.

ESTIMATING:
We are happy to provide an initial estimate at no charge. However, if drawings or other design work is required to determine what should be included in the estimate, we charge an hourly fee for those design services. Please contact us with your project questions to determine the best way to begin pricing your project.

CUSTOM CARPENTRY:
Whether it is framing or building a stair from salvage parts in an historic home, Gary is meticulous in the way he goes about finishing a project. His skill is a unique combination of creativity and efficiency so that each job is not only beautiful and finely crafted, but also finished on time.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION:
Much of the work that we do is on the many historic homes (including our own) and businesses in downtown Noblesville. Some of those projects include remodeling bathrooms and kitchens (in a way that is both sensitive to the historic nature of the home and functional for modern lifestyles) , repairing porch floors and siding, rebuilding window pediments and designing and constructing custom corbels to match historic photographs. We truly enjoy this work and take pride in the character of our neighborhoods and downtown square.
